Science meets spotlight at the SETAC Science Slam, a high-energy event where student or early career researchers take the stage to share their work in the most creative, fun, and accessible way possible.

Do you love explaining your environmental research in ways that anyone can understand? Got a knack for storytelling, humour, or performance? Whether it’s a song, skit, dance, or demo, this is your chance to shine in front of the entire SETAC community, live on stage in Maastricht!

We're looking for 5 bold student or early career presenters who can showcase their research in an entertaining eight-minute 'presentation' and compete for cash prizes between €100 and €500 by wowing the audience.

Got what it takes? Only a few steps to slam stardom:
  1. Express Your Interest – by 30 October
    Fill out the application form with a short abstract of your research and your creative idea for the Slam. 
  2. Submit Your Video – by 10 December
    Upload a short video (2–3 minutes) introducing yourself and your creative Slam concept to complete your application. 
  3. Prepare  & Perform 
    Shape your research into an unforgettable 8-minute performance & wow the crowd onsite in Maastricht to win their vote!

What is a Science Slam? 

A Science Slam is where young scientists present their research projects in a ten to eight-minute talk, making it easy to follow and mixing science with performance. It’s not primarily about the scientific outcome, it’s about storytelling, understanding and entertainment, all judged by the audience.
