Benefits

Recipients can register for the SETAC Europe 34th Annual Meeting with the discounted registration fee instead of the regular registration fee.

Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must be a full SETAC member with a recent graduate or senior active statusCheck your membership status, under My Account > Manage Membership.

  • A free or explorer membership is not valid
  • The membership must be at least active until the last day of the annual meeting
  • To qualify as a recent graduate, members must:
    • have received the primary degree related to the Society's ethos of environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology
    • have been graduated no longer than 3 years ago
  • To qualify as a senior active member, members must:
    • be a member in good standing for three years
    • be at least 62 years of age and retired
  • Be actively involved in the SETAC Europe annual meeting for example as a session chair, presenter, programme committee member, training course instructor or award judge.

  • Statement about the active contribution to the meeting

Terms and Conditions

  • Recent graduates can only receive the reduced registration grant for maximum two annual meetings
  • Grants are personal and cannot be given to others
  • Recipients must register before the early bird registration deadline
  • Recipients are expected to adhere to the SETAC Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct.

Eligibility

Candidates must be a full SETAC student member based in Europe, the Middle East or Central Asia. Check your membership status, under My Account > Manage Membership

  • A free or explorer membership is ineligible.
  • The membership must be at least active until the last day of the annual meeting.

Application Information

Applicants must submit the following information no later than Monday, 30 October.

  • Summary of reason for application including why grant is required and how attendance fits academic goals and career plans
  • A valid  student proof
  • supporting statement by the applicant’s supervisor (maximum one page)

Selection Process 

All applications will be checked for eligibility and completeness by the SETAC office. Late submitted applications will not be taken into consideration. Maximum two (2) candidates from one institution or department can receive a grant. If we receive more eligible applications than funding available, the recipients will be drawn randomly. 

Terms and Conditions

  • Recipients must submit an abstract as presenting author for the SETAC Europe 34th Annual Meeting by 29 November. 
  • The grant can only be received for maximum two annual meetings, while being a student.
  • Grants are personal and cannot be given to others.
  • Recipients must register before the early bird registration deadline.
  • Recipients are expected to adhere to the SETAC Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct.

Grants for SETAC Students outside SETAC Europe

SETAC Europe offers five grants for full SETAC student members based in a low- or middle-income country outside of SETAC Europe to co-fund meeting participation.

The grant offers up to 1000€, including one meeting registration for the SETAC Europe 34th Annual Meeting. The meeting grant will not necessarily cover all costs related to participation in the meeting but will help contribute to the overall cost of the grant recipient.

The grant offers up to 1000€, which includes the meeting registration for the SETAC Europe 34th Annual Meeting and the balance can be used to partially cover travel and accommodation.

  • Have a submitted abstract for the SETAC Europe meeting as first and presenting author

Application Information

Applicants must submit the following information:

  • Summary of reasons for application with clear explanation of why financial support is required and how attendance at the meeting fits with academic goals and career plans (max 500 words)
  • A valid student proof
  • A copy of the abstract that will be submitted
  • Filled out Supervisor Student Declaration Form including the proof of funding to attend the meeting in addition to the grant

Selection Process 

All applications will be checked for eligibility and completeness by the SETAC office and then approved for review by the SETAC Europe Diversity and Inclusive Committee by the following criteria:

  • Applicant demonstrates financial need with ability to fund part of the expenses
  • Submitted abstract demonstrates strong scientific merit
  • Applicant’s personal statement demonstrates a clear understanding of how they will benefit from the SETAC Europe 34th Annual Meeting experience and the uniqueness they bring to the meeting

Terms and Conditions

  • Grants are personal and cannot be given to others.
  • The grant can be received for maximum two annual meetings while being a student.
  • Reimbursement will be made after the meeting. Grantees must complete an expense claim form at the meeting, along with all relevant receipts to support the claim.
  • No reimbursement will be made in the event of failure to attend the meeting.
  • Grantees need to submit a brief report (300-500 words) summarising the benefits of having received the grant, within 3 months after the meeting.
  • Recipients are expected to adhere to the SETAC Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct
