Chemistry Student Excellence Award

SETAC North America and the American Chemical Society (ACS) Environmental Division have developed this award to expand the professional and scientific interactions of student members of the two participating organizations.

One award will be made annually in the amount of US$1,000 for attendance at an ACS meeting held in the calendar year following the SETAC North America annual meeting at which the best chemistry student is identified. In addition, ACS will provide a complimentary registration for the meeting.

Application Instructions and Eligibility Criteria

SETAC North America chemistry students can indicate their desire to participate in the competition when they submit an abstract for the SETAC North America annual meeting. To qualify for consideration, the first author of the presentation must be a current SETAC North America student member. The presentation must be of work conducted by the author as a student, while still a student.

Selection Process

The SETAC North America Chemistry Interest Group oversees this competition under oversight of the SETAC North America Board of Directors. Abstracts are reviewed and given a score based on set criteria (abstract rubric). Top scoring abstracts get accepted into the competition. Authors will need to register early to confirm participation. The committee will then assign each presentation three judges who will score the presentation considering various aspects (presentation rubric).

Award

Award winner will receive complimentary registration to attend an upcoming ACS meeting and US$1,000 stipend.
