Bruges is one of Belgium’s most charming cities and is very accessible. With excellent rail connections and proximity to major international airports, reaching the city is straightforward whether you are travelling from within Europe or internationally.

To help you plan your journey and make the most of your stay, we recommend visiting Visit Bruges. You’ll find practical information on how to get to Bruges, detailed guidance on mobility and getting around the city, as well as inspiration for things to see and do during your visit.

From the Airport

Brussels Airportis Belgium’s main international airport, offering connections to over 200 destinations worldwide. From the airport,  direct trains run hourly to Bruges with a travel time of approximately 1 hour and 25–30 minutes. The train station is located directly beneath the airport terminal, making transfers seamless.

Additionally, many low-cost European carriers fly through the Charleroi Airport. A direct shuttle bus (Flibco) connects the airport to Bruges, with frequent departures throughout the day. Tickets can be bought online and on the bus (more expensive). Alternatively, you can combine buses and trains at nearby stations to reach Bruges.

By Train and Public Transport

Belgium has a dense and efficient rail network, making train travel one of the easiest ways to reach Bruges. Trains are operated by NMBS/SNCB, with frequent connections between Brugge Station and all major Belgian cities.

Local public transport, operated by De Lijn, provides easy access between the station, the city centre and surrounding areas via buses and trams.
