Meetings:
Most meetings are conducted via phone conference and/or netmeeting and are scheduled as needed, but at least three times a year. A meeting is held at the annual SETAC North America conference.
Professional Training Course Instructors:
Professional Training Courses are generally offered by volunteers from the SETAC membership – instructors are from academia, government and industry alike. We try to offer some perks (such as complimentary registration fees) to instructors, but we acknowledge that we wouldn’t be able to pay for the work needed to create and instruct a short course. It does speak to the membership of SETAC to see the number of high quality courses offered every year.
Professional Training Course Topics:
Professional Training Course Topics are generated with feedback from previous participants, general feedback from the SETAC membership community and discussion with the local program committee for the SETAC North America conference. The focus is on selecting up-to-date topics as well as general scientific topics of interest. We also try to expand the range of topics to include non-scientific based courses to support young scientists as well as improve skills that are needed to succeed in the scientific community (such as communication skills).
Feedback to the Committee:
The committee welcomes feedback as well as ideas with regard to short courses – please contact Chris Ivey (civey@usgs.gov). Short courses are offered to benefit the SETAC members – please let us know how we can best serve you!
