The
purpose of the Education Committee is to develop, plan, and coordinate the
activities of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC)
focused on the development of educational information and platforms for
continuing education for developing and established environmental toxicology
and chemistry professionals and the general public. The committee works to
ensure that SETAC educational and training activities and materials are timely,
appropriate and effective in communicating principles, competencies and emerging
concepts to the global environmental toxicology and chemistry community.
The committee
consists of 13 members and includes representatives of existing SETAC
Geographic Unit (GU) short course and education committees, and scientific and
technical committees. The committee membership also includes representatives
from other GUs and other members or individuals with expertise and experience
in distance learning programs and approaches. In addition, the SETAC Executive
Director and Scientific Affairs Manager serve as ex-officio members.
