Eco-Transcriptomics Data Usability: Recommended Minimum Reporting Information
With the rapid growth of transcriptomics research, it is imperative that transparency in reporting also improves to facilitate use of these data sources in risk assessment. In addition to data normally reported for ecotoxicity studies, there are some criteria specific for transcriptomics studies that should also be reported. These criteria include methodological reporting of crucial steps, such as quantification, library preparation and sequencing parameters. Disclosing this data will increase comparability across studies, laboratories or species.
To address these needs, SETAC is hosting a free webinar, “Eco-Transcriptomics Data Usability: Recommended Minimum Reporting Information,” at 10:00 a.m. EST on 24 February, featuring Camille Baettig (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency), Alexander Cole and Laura Langan (University of South Carolina) as speakers. They will explain the rationale behind selected recommended reporting criteria and discuss best practices for transparent and usable reporting in transcriptomics research. The webinar hosts are also working with SETAC on a forthcoming SETAC Technical Issue Paper (TIP) on minimum reporting standards for eco-transcriptomics studies. This new TIP will be available by the time the webinar takes place and is intended to supplement SETAC’s existing TIP on “Recommended Minimum Reporting Information for Environmental Toxicity Studies.”
This webinar is free for all SETAC members and is part of SETAC’s ongoing efforts to improve data usability and support science-informed environmental decision-making.
