As the rate of new transcriptomics studies continues to increase, it is imperative that transparency in reporting also improves to facilitate use of these data sources in risk assessment. In addition to data normally reported for ecotoxicity studies, there are some criteria specific for transcriptomics studies that should also be reported. These criteria include methodological reporting of crucial steps such as quantification, library preparation and sequencing parameters. Disclosing this data will increase comparability across studies, laboratories or species.

To supplement SETAC’s Technical Issue Paper (TIP) on “Recommended Minimum Reporting Information for Environmental Toxicity Studies,” a new TIP addressing "Recommended Minimum Reporting Information for Publication of Eco-transcriptomics Studies" will be available by the time of the webinar. Authors of the TIP will present the rationale for recommending some specific criteria to report on and elaborate on best practice for reporting during the webinar.
