SETAC Asia-Pacific has formalized a new regional partnership with the Korean Society of Environmental Health and Toxicology, strengthening scientific collaboration and knowledge exchange across the Asia-Pacific region.

The kindred society agreement was signed during the society’s recent scientific meeting in South Korea, where SETAC Asia-Pacific President Hiroshi Yamamoto participated as an invited speaker. The agreement reflects a shared commitment to advancing environmental health science, promoting best practices and supporting collaboration among researchers, regulators and practitioners working across environmental toxicology and chemistry.

The partnership provides a framework for cooperation across a range of activities, including joint scientific programming, training initiatives, workshops and information exchange. It also supports mutual engagement at conferences and meetings, creating new opportunities for researchers and professionals to connect across national and disciplinary boundaries.

“Regional collaboration is essential to addressing complex environmental challenges,” Yamamoto said during the meeting. “This agreement strengthens our ability to share expertise, foster dialogue and support high-quality science that is relevant to regional and global priorities.”

The Korean Society of Environmental Health and Toxicology is a well-established professional society supporting research, education and policy engagement in environmental health sciences. Through this agreement, both organizations aim to enhance visibility of regional science, encourage participation in each other’s activities and explore joint initiatives that support capacity building and professional development.

The agreement aligns with SETAC Asia-Pacific’s broader strategy to expand regional engagement, promote inclusive scientific exchange and strengthen connections among academia, government and industry. By building partnerships with national and regional societies, SETAC Asia-Pacific continues to support the development and application of robust environmental science tailored to regional needs.

Further collaborative activities will be explored in consultation with society leadership, with an initial focus on scientific sessions, training opportunities and knowledge sharing aligned with shared priorities.
