Good Science Isn't a Luxury; It's a Necessity.

SETAC North America has joined more than 90 leading scientific, academic and professional organizations in signing a coalition letter to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). Spearheaded by the American Psychological Association, the letter was sent earlier this week to OSTP Director Michael Kratsios and underscores the importance of strong federal support for science and evidence-based policymaking.

The letter calls for upholding the integrity of the nation’s scientific ecosystem to ensure federally funded research remains a vital and trusted resource for informing policy, fostering innovation and addressing the country’s most pressing challenges. It also affirms a set of shared values and key practices that guide scientific work — principles that together provide a roadmap for ensuring science continues to serve the public good. This broad coalition reflects a unified commitment across the scientific community to safeguard the role of science in national policy and decision-making.
