€ 100.000 Award for Ecotoxicology research

SETAC Europe cooperates with the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) to present the Long-range Research Innovative Science Award. The € 100.000 prize aims to promote innovation in the fields of toxicology and ecotoxicology. Especially early career scientists are invited to submit a proposal for research in the broad fields of ecotoxicology, including but not limited to 1) eco-quality and eco-epidemiology, 2) eco-relevance of risk assessment procedures and 3) alternative methods in ecological safety.

Award winners

  • 2007: Roman Ashauer (EAWAG, Switzerland)
with his research proposal entitled "Improving the definition of water quality criteria: linking organism recovery times to mechanism of action and acute-to-chronic ratios"
Dr. Timothy Gant, chair of the Jury Panel presenting the SETAC/CEFIC LRI Innovative Science Award to Dr. Roman Ashauer

  • 2005: Paul J. van den Brink (Alterra, Netherlands) with his research proposal entitled "Predicting the response of aquatic invertebrates to chemical stress using species traits and stressor mode of action"
