About Katherine
Katherine (Katie) Coady I received a Ph.D. in Zoology and Ecology, Evolutionary Biology and Behavior from Michigan State University. I began my career as consultant followed shortly after as an Assistant Professor of biology and chemistry at a small college in Central Florida for several years. I then transitioned to working in the business sector as an ecotoxicologist/environmental scientist first at Dow Chemical followed by Bayer CropScience. My areas of expertise are aquatic toxicology, ecological risk assessment, endocrine disruption, microplastics, and bioaccumulation science. I first became involved in SETAC as a graduate student in the late 1990s, and since that time I have regularly participated in interest groups, regional SETAC meetings and governance, Pellston workshops, focused topic meetings, and annual meetings in several geographies. I just completed serving a term on the Board of Directors for SETAC North America. I have always appreciated the tripartite approach that SETAC takes in its science and governance. I believe that this approach ensures cross-sector dialogue that is crucial for advancing the applied sciences that are the foundation of SETAC.
