Agricultural biologicals, often referred to simply as “biologicals” or “biologics,” are a diverse class of agricultural inputs derived from natural materials—including living organisms, such as bacteria and fungi, as well as other bio-based substances. These products are designed to support agriculture and complement traditional synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Some biologics can enhance a plant’s natural processes and improve nutrient uptake. Other biologics can also provide targeted protection against pests and diseases. In general, biological products compete with traditional chemical pesticides and are regarded as safer and more selective in targeting specific pest species. This webinar introduces the topic to the wider SETAC community and provides updates on current scientific and regulatory developments for these products.
