Need guidance on which tests to do, in what order to do them, and how they fit into the wider risk assessment process? This framework advisory tool is flexible enough to provide compatibility with existing European and North American approaches as well as with new developments. By identifying and discussing uncertainties, it provides a bridge between deterministic and probabilistic approaches to risk assessment. Case studies help expand the framework and illustrate how it can be used.
Other issues explored: extrapolation between species, suitability of time-weighted averages for dealing with contrasting timescales in exposure-and-effects data, dealing with repellancy and regurgitation, and endocrine disruption.
