Contribute to the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) Vision During the Green Deal SSbD Consultation

From 13:30–16:00 CEST on Monday, 2 October, the Sounding Board of SETAC Europe's representation at the High-Level Roundtable for the implementation of the EU’s Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability (HLRT CSS) is organizing a Green Deal SSbD Consultation, which has been designed together with the European Commission's Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD).

SETAC members are invited to take part in the discussion around recent scientific advances in evaluation methods for the safety and sustainability of chemicals and materials along their entire life cycle and brainstorm ways to address data needs through available databases and tools.

This is a unique opportunity for SETAC members to get involved and feed into the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) vision by sharing opinions and insights on the topic. The focus of the consultation will be on discussing "Advancing safety and sustainability of chemicals through science-based strategies: Service checks, gaps, bottlenecks, and the way forward," and is also intended to collect scientific ideas that can serve as practical support for the implementation of the CSS, with emphasis on the SSbD framework.

All SETAC members are welcome and will have a chance to be heard! Don't miss this opportunity and be sure to register in time.

The results of this café will be digested further in a second, similar consultation meeting, which will be held in February 2024. The results of both consultation meetings will be further developed in an on-site workshop, organized in Seville, aligned with the SETAC Europe 34th Annual Meeting. After the events, results will be collated for use in CSS activities.
