The Membership and Public Relations Committee exists to advice the SETAC Europe Council (SEC) make policy recommendations for internal and external communications of SETAC Europe; to increase awareness of SETAC to relevant governmental, industrial and academic institutions; and to secure and increase an active and qualified SETAC membership.

What We Do

  • Evaluate the existing communication strategies and make recommendations to better reach out to members and non-members
  • Identify target groups for recruitment of individual members
  • Advise SETAC Europe/World councils on preferred membership policy (membership categories, fees and benefits)
  • Evaluate and make recommendation for an extended Mentorship Programme (beyond existing SETAC Europe Annual Meeting mentor programme)
  • Review annual meeting registration fee structure and consider alternatives that increase member retention
  • Review success of collaborations with other societies or conferences (e.g. Eurotox, ISES, IWA) and make recommendations for future approach
  • Investigate current and potential participation from Eastern Europe and make recommendation to increase participation from this region
  • Analyse career development pathways of SETAC students by following them when moving to early career scientists and make recommendations to better serve this group
  • Explore extension of stakeholder roundtable to beyond AM, e.g. in the form of stakeholder forum (and draft proposal for SEC)

Past Projects

  • Assessment of pertinent factors and considerations to enhance membership across the tripartite (academia, business and government) catchment
  • Development of membership growth strategies in liaison with other committees, geographical units and SETAC World Council
