Based on enthusiastic participation in a Sustainability task force meeting in New Orleans, we have constituted a new discussion forum titled "Sustainability within SETAC" on the SETAC Communities site. The focus will be on how and where SETAC, as a scientific organization, and we, as individual professionals, can contribute to the emerging practices for sustainable development. Any organizational level outcomes or recommendations from this discussion will be provided to the society leadership for consideration in the long range planning process. Activities on an individual level will be shared among forum participants so we can begin taking actions between now and the Portland meeting. A session on this topic will be proposed to share experiences.
