Capacity-Building Award Deadline Extended to 30 September
Friday, July 29, 2016
The closing date for nominations for the Capacity-Building Award, sponsored by SETAC Global Partners, has been extended to 30 September. This award recognizes individuals or groups for their contributions toward building capacity in environmental sciences within countries with developing economies.
Candidates for the Capacity-Building Award include individuals, groups or other organizations who have contributed directly to education, professional development, training or the development of analytical capabilities and other infrastructure related to environmental sciences, and the use of science in environmental policy and decision-making within an emerging or developing country. Candidates will be evaluated with respect to new or enhanced initiatives, degree of influence, success and history of related contributions.
The award will generally be made available to individuals or groups who are based in or reside within a developing country. However, individuals or organizations based outside these countries are also eligible.
Any individual, group or organization can nominate a candidate. Self-nominations are also acceptable. The nomination package should include a 1-page description of the contributions toward capacity building and must be supported with three letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with the contributions. The package can be enhanced by including examples of contributions. These might include background documents or websites the individual has made. Those letters must indicate how the individual has contributed to capacity building in emerging and developing countries. Nominated candidates’ information will be reviewed by the SETAC Global Awards sub-committee. One high-resolution photo needs to be included in the nomination packet.
