Annual Meeting includes discussions
on endocrine disruptors
14 November 2004
Did you know the natural products from trees could
change the gender in fish? We are exposed to chemicals
everyday. Studies suggest that contact with certain
chemicals may result in disruption of endocrine systems
in humans and in wildlife.
The Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry
(SETAC) will tackle the issue of endocrine disruptors
at the Fourth SETAC World Congress and 25th Annual Meeting
in North America is being held in Portland, Ore., Nov.
14-18, 2004.
The issues discussed will include the chemical and
biological analysis of endocrine disruptors, and its
impact on fish and other wildlife. Issues that affect
environmental quality will be addressed through keynote
speakers, platform sessions, interactive platform sessions,
poster sessions and a variety of professional development
courses.
With more than 2,100 presentations, the meeting is
expected to bring together nearly 2,500 individuals
from around the world. The meeting theme is SETAC:
25 Years of Interdisciplinary Science Serving Global
Society. The meeting will mark the transition
from regional to international perspectives and the
emergence of SETAC as a premier global society.
