The Society of Environmental
Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) has awarded Dr. Paul
Mehrle the 2004 Herb Ward Exceptional Service Award
in recognition of his long-term and continuing service
to SETAC.
Mehrle, vice president
and senior principal of ENTRIX, Inc., will receive the
award during the Fourth SETAC World Congress and 25th
Annual Meeting in North America to be held Nov. 14-18,
2004, in Portland, Ore. This distinguished award
is given to recognize a past or present SETAC member
who has demonstrated long-lasting, high-quality service
to SETAC.
In addition to playing
various key roles in serving the Society and the SETAC
Foundation, Mehrle was actively involved in the transition
of the Society to self-management while providing excellent
business advice to SETAC. Along with serving the
Society as a Board member and officer, he has displayed
an exceptional level of guidance for members as well
as the SETAC administration.
"I am honored to
receive the Exceptional Service Award from the Society
of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry," says
Mehrle. "I have enjoyed serving the Society
as it has grown from a national professional society
to a recognized international society."
Mehrle, who has a doctorate
in biochemistry from the University of Missouri, has
more than 30 years of experience in managing and directing
environmental investigations and providing strategy
development to major organizations and law firms on
environmental liability matters.
"I am pleased that
the Board of Directors and membership have provided
me the opportunity to serve and contribute in numerous
capacities during the past 25 years," says Mehrle.
Previously, Mehrle served as SETAC's president in 1994,
and was an editor for one of SETAC's official journals,
Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry.
SETAC is a not-for-profit,
