SETAC Awards Colborn with Rachel
Carson Award

The Society of Environmental
Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) has awarded Dr. Theo
Colborn the 2003 Rachel Carson Award.
Colborn, a senior fellow
at the World Wildlife Fund and adjunct graduate faculty
member in the Wildlife and Fisheries Department at Texas
A&M University, will be presented with the Rachel
Carson Award during the opening session of SETAC North
America's 24th Annual Meeting to be held Nov. 9-13,
2003, in Austin, Texas.
Colborn was selected to
receive the Rachel Carson Award for the considerable
international impact she has made on scientific research,
public perceptions and environmental policy regarding
the issue of endocrine disruptors.
This award was created
in 1987 to recognize an individual or group who has
made a significant impact upon public awareness and
understanding of an issue concerning stressors in the
environment. The recipient's action must result in a
redefinition of environmental policies and practices.
