2007 SETAC Eugene Kenaga Award
10/23/2007
The Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry is delighted to announce James Oris as the recipient of the 2007 SETAC Eugene Kenaga Award. Initiated in 2003, this award was created to honor the many contributions of Eugene "Gene" Kenaga, the first president of SETAC.
Oris has extensive and long-term SETAC service, primarily at the national and global levels and has also been a key person developing membership at local and national levels. He has been involved and chaired several SETAC committees, co-chaired the national meeting, been a member of the internet committee and the awards committee to name a few. Oris’s commitment to SETAC has been long-term and very important to the continued success of SETAC.
The SETAC Eugene Kenaga award is given each year to recognize a member of SETAC for their outstanding work with the Society's membership at either the chapter or continental (North America) level. The recipient will have contributed toward the enhancement of the services SETAC offers to members through activities such as short courses and workshops, committee representation and meeting/session organization at annual meetings.
SETAC is a not-for-profit worldwide professional society of individuals and institutions dedicated to the study, analysis, and solution of environmental problems, the management and regulation of natural resources, environmental education, and research and development. Its membership numbers more than 5000 from 92 countries, and the Society publishes two renowned journals, Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry and Integrated Environmental Assessment and Management. -AED
