SETAC CEE Prepares for Ecotoxicology Revisited in Krakow

From 17-19 September 2012, SETAC Central and East Europe (CEE) Branch will hold its 3rd annual meeting at the Institute of Environmental Sciences at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, the leading Polish institution in environmental sciences.

Program

The theme of the meeting is "Ecotoxicology Revisited," and the goal will be to explore fresh perspectives on problems, both old and new, in ecotoxicology and environmental chemistry faced by those in Central and Eastern Europe. The following areas will be covered by various presentations:

  • Aquatic Ecotoxicology
  • Terrestrial Ecotoxicology
  • Environmental and Analytical Chemistry
  • Emerging Contaminants
  • Exposure and Effects Modeling
  • Evolutionary Ecotoxicology
  • Life Cycle Assessment and Management
  • Ecological Risk Assessment and Management

Setting

The 3rd SETAC CEE Annual Meeting will be held at Jagiellonian University, the oldest university in Poland and one of the oldest universities in the world. The Institute of Environmental Sciences is located at the university's third campus, in eastern Krakow.

Krakow, which dates back to the 7th century, is situated on Poland's Vistula River and has traditionally been one of the leading centers of Polish academic, cultural and artistic life. Krakow's historic center is home to about six thousand historic sites and more than two million works of art. Its rich variety of historic architecture includes Renaissance, Baroque, and Gothic buildings. Krakow's palaces, churches, theatres, and mansions display great variety of color, architectural details, stained glass, paintings, sculptures, and furnishings.

Organization

"Ecotoxicology Revisited" will provide a platform for invited speakers to offer their opinions and ideas on the ecotoxicology and environmental chemistry challenges facing Central and Eastern Europe today; a roster of speakers will be announced soon at http://www.eko.uj.edu.pl/SETAC-CEE2012/index.php/scientific-programme/invited-speakers.

The committee for the 3rd SETAC CEE Annual Meeting is now accepting abstract submissions. Please note that the deadline for abstract submission is 15 April 2012.
