SETAC
and the American Chemical Society (ACS) Environmental Division have developed a
Graduate Student Exchange Program to 1) expand the professional and scientific
interactions of student members of the two participating organizations and 2)
to promote networking between the ACS and SETAC. One award will be made
annually in the amount of $1,000 for attendance at an ACS meeting that is held
in the calendar year following the SETAC North America Annual Meeting at which
the award is judged. In addition, ACS will provide a complementary registration

Eligibility
Applicant
must be a SETAC North America Masters or Ph.D. student member in good
standing. Applicant should arrange for a letter of support to be sent
from their advisor stating that the student is progressing well towards a
graduate degree.

apply, the following materials must be submitted electronically to the
Pensacola Office no later than 13
September 2013. Send all materials to the attention of Laura Swanson at laura.swanson@setac.org.
Failure to meet the deadline or to follow instructions invalidates the
application. The application packet must contain all the requested materials in
order to be considered for this award. Length of each item must not exceed the
length guidelines given below.
- Applicant must provide a high-quality abstract. (This
abstract should be a copy of the abstract submitted for that year's SETAC
North America annual meeting.)
- A letter of endorsement by the applicant's faculty
advisor (a 1-sided, single page maximum).
- Curriculum vitae (résumé) of the applicant (1-sided,
single page maximum).
- A short statement (1 paragraph) from the applicant on
why their research is suitable for the SETAC-ACS exchange program.

Procedure
Student
abstracts will be reviewed by a panel of subject matter experts within SETAC
North America and facilitated via the SETAC North America Awards and Fellowship
Committee. All student authors will be notified if their abstract is selected
for on-site judging. Authors of the 5 most highly ranked abstracts will be
judged in person by the Awards Committee at the SETAC North America Annual Meeting.
The
award winner will be announced at the closing ceremony of the SETAC North
America Annual Meeting. Award monies will be provided to the student upon
notification to the SETAC North America Awards Committee of abstract acceptance
by the ACS Environmental Program Committee. Forwarding the abstract acceptance
email from ACS is sufficient.
